Having already conducted the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra last season at the Richard Strauss Tage in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, this concert is his Pilsen debut as chamber musician, before Remy will return in June to conduct this year’s Strauss Tage Program also in Pilsen. This year’s concert at the Richard Strauss Tage will be also Remy’s debut as ‘Conductor in Residence’.
French conductor and violinist Rémy Ballot has formed an ensemble with
musicians he works regularly with as conductor. An acclaimed debut concert
at the 2020 St. Florian Bruckner Festival resulted in a CD of Anton Bruckner's
string quintet and quartet, released on the Gramola label along side his
award winning cycle of Brucker symphonies.
"Each member of the quartet is a highly cultivated musical personality who
knows how to listen to his or her fellow players and is equally capable of
taking the lead, accompanying and fitting into a tutti sound. This ensemble
does not offer a mannered unified sound, as one hears from formations that
commit themselves to either a quasi-orchestral or a finely chiselled
performance. The quartet's playing is oriented towards the respective
conditions of the tonal set, which is presented with great sensitivity."
